2title: I Am (Not) a Fox
3unlisted: true
4---
5
6I am not a fox.
7It would be ridiculous to claim otherwise since a fox wouldn't be able to type on a keyboard, or come up with this text in the first place.
8A fox probably couldn't have a job as a software developer either.
9But despite reality being what it is, my existence as a human being doesn't feel right to me.
10It never has.
11
12I was 6 years old when I first became aware that something was wrong.
13I'm sure many of you have seen the movie "The Sword in the Stone" by Disney, wherein the protagonist Arthur is transformed into various animals to learn valuable life lessons.
14I was watching it one evening and became fascinated by the idea of possessing a nonhuman body, especially that of a bird.
15What would it be like to experience to world as one?
16To be covered in feathers that are bristling in the wind as I'm flying through the air?
17Thinking about this felt right to me.
18Or rather, it felt like for the first time in my life, a persistent feeling of discomfort I hadn't noticed before was suddenly gone.
19This moment marks the beginning

13I'm sure many of you have seen the movie "The Sword in the Stone" by Disney, wherein the protagonist Arthur is transformed into various animals to learn different life lessons.
14I was watching this movie one evening and became fascinated by the idea of possessing a nonhuman body, especially that of a bird.
15What would it be like to experience the world as one?
16To be covered in feathers that are bristling in the wind as I'm flying through the air?
17Imagining myself in this situation felt right.
18It was as if a constant nagging at the back of my mind, which I hadn't noticed before, was gone for the first time.
